There will be no Teen Mass or classes on 12/27/09 and 1/3/10.
Dear Parent(s)
Welcome to the St. Francis Junior Youth Program. You have made the decision to educate and support your teen in their religious education and the formation of the faith. This is a wonderful and unique responsibility! Together, we will guide your teen through a very special spiritual journey.
Each of us has roles and expectations. Yours will be the following:
~ As parents you need to model the commitment to personal prayer,
community worship and ministry.
~ Assume responsibility to assist your teen in meeting the program’s
Attendance policy.
~ Agree to help your teen process the experience of their journey, enter
into dialogue with your teen, pray for and with your teen and be willing
To share your own personal faith story.
~ Attend Parent workshop in March
~ If your child is unable to attend class please contact the Youth Minister.
Our role is to act as teachers and advisors in your teen’s journey, we will provide them with the essential information they will need through weekly religious education classes. We will keep you fully informed of what is happening throughout the preparation process. This will be achieved through letters and phone calls. All teens are encouraged to attend Teen Mass, which takes place on Sunday’s at 5:00. Your child’s junior youth program will begin on Oct 18, 09 We will be meeting from 6:30 pm.- 7:30 pm. A dinner is provided each week, directly following Mass. We have found the dinners to be a nice way for the teens to spend some informal time bonding as a group and building a faithful community. In addition to the traditional Religious Education curriculum which is preparing your child to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, you child will experience Junior Youth night approximately six times during the school. This program is designed to emulate the senior high youth group curriculum is implemented by the high school teens.
This is an exciting and pivotal time in your youth’s spiritual life. We are honored to share this experience with you. If at any time you have concerns or questions please do not hesitate to let us know.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Brenda DeMattio
