Parish Council
The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Pastoral Council is a group of fifteen members of the parish who form one body with the pastor in fulfilling the church’s ministry. Together with the pastor the Council has one purpose: to serve the pastoral needs of the parish community. In all of its endeavors, the Parish Pastoral Council will be guided by our parish mission statement: “In the spirit of St. Francis, to know Jesus and make Him known.”
The members of the Council are comprised of a chairperson, the seven heads of parish ministry, four at-large members, and two parish trustees. At-large members are selected from a list of nominees proposed by parishioners in January in years where there are openings in the At-large membership. Terms of At-large membership are two years and a member may serve one consecutive two-year term.
The Parish Pastoral Council meets monthly or more often as needed. Ministry coordinators and other persons supporting parish activities may be invited to attend designated council meetings. The council is subject to the supervision and approval of the pastor, who provides direction to the Council and assists the Council in discerning and exploring its agenda.
In remaining open to the guiding power of the Holy Spirit the primary focus of the Council is the creation, communication, and execution of the Parish Pastoral Plan for Evangelization and the overall health of parish life and worship in the St. Francis community.
